Deputy Minister Mabudafhasi continues to promote national identity in schools, Beaufort West

The Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, will on Wednesday, 20 July 2016 at 07:00 visit A.H. Barnard Primary School in Beaufort West, Western Cape to promote national identity amongst learners as part of Arts and Culture’s Flag in every School Programme.

The programme which is aimed at  inculcating a spirit of patriotism, nation building and social cohesion in schools involves the hoisting the National Flag in the school, the singing of the National Anthem, the recital of the Preamble of the Constitution, the distribution of hand held flags and publications on national symbols and the anthem.

The Deputy Minister will also meet the Crafters Forum to discuss issues affecting their business and tangible plans on how to grow this sector.

The activities fall within Mandela Month activities, in celebration of Nelson Mandela’s life and legacy, which serves the purpose of being a catalyst for each and every person to change the world through voluntary community work, under the theme Take Action – Inspire Change – Make Every Day a Mandela Day.

Government calls all sectors, the community and the world to contribute 67 minutes to help those in need under the sub-themes Food and Security, Education and Literacy, Shelter and infrastructure, Volunteerism and Creating a Caring Society.
