Minister Mthethwa to launch Africa Month Celebrations at Maropeng at the Seminar of the African World Heritage Fund

Arts and Culture Minister Mr Mathi Mthethwa-fThe Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa invites members of the media to the launch of Africa Month on Tuesday 3 May 2016 at the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site in Maropeng. Africa Month is celebrated under the theme “Building a Better Africa and a Better World: For Peace and Friendship.”

The Minister will outline the programme of activities to take place during the Month of May 2016 celebrating Africa Month.

Minister Mthethwa will  pay tribute to the African continent for supporting the work of the African World Heritage Fund since its inception a decade ago. The month of May has been declared as Africa Month to celebrate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) on 25 May 1963. This will also be the opening ceremony of the seminar on African World Heritage – Thinking Ahead which will be attended by delegates from more than 40 African countries as well as Ministers and representatives of UNESCO and the African Union.
