Deputy Minister Mabudafhasi to officially open the 42nd Biennial Conference in Bloemfontein

Deputy of Art and Culture-Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi_blogThe Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi will deliver a key note address at the official opening of 42nd Biennial Conference on Wednesday, 14 October 2015 at the President Hotel, Naval Hill, Bloemfontein, Free State Province. The conference will run from the 14 to 16 October 2015.

The Biennial Conference of the SA National Council for the Blind (SANCB) is a major event that takes place every two years in a different province. The Council was established in 1929 and its mission is to serve, support and facilitate its member organisations in preventing blindness, rehabilitating blind persons, developing communities, and training and educating South Africans with visual impairments.

The Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) has been supporting the work of South African National Council for the Blind (SANCB) over many years. One of the responsibilities of the DAC is to facilitate access to information to visually impaired people, and the SANCB’s Biennial Conference (also called the “Parliament for the Blind”) provides the opportunity for visually impaired readers to have their voices heard at the national level on numerous matters to concern to them.

Prior to the official opening, the Deputy Minister will conduct a site visit to the Anglo Boer War Museum at 08h30.
