Language Translation Software Presented at Parliament

18 May 2015

On Monday, 18 May 2015, 38 translators in Parliament attended a workshop on the use of the AutshumatPhoto_1so Integrated Translation Environment (ITE) open-source translation software in Cape Town. The software was developed by the Centre for Text Technology (CTexT®) at the North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, as part of the Autshumato project. The project is funded by the Department of Arts and Culture.

The Autshumato range of translation tools helps translators when translating a document into another language. The software is a very powerful translation tool. The aim of the workshop is to introduce the Autshumato software to language practitioners in government departments and equip them to use the software to make their translation work easier and more effective.

Autshumato is available for download from the internet at no cost. Visit the Autshumato website for more information on the project:  http://autshumato.sourceforge.net/
